The pilots and users of South County Airport formed this Association in December 2000, to ensure that the airport remains open and available for use by general aviation aircraft. An exploratory gathering was held in November 2000. During the second meeting of interested parties, held on December 5, 2000, steps were taken to set up the non-profit corporation  that will function as a chapter of the California Pilots Association. At the same meeting, a board of directors was elected. Several committees to further the mission of the Association were also established. Since that time, SCAPA has maintained it status as a non-profit 501(c)3 organization and also as a sub-chapter of the California Pilots Association

The SCAPA board has several subcommittees that work to further the mission of the Association:

Want to be a Member?

We invite all pilots at the airport to join us. Membership is whatever you make it - it can be as minimal as mailing in the membership dues each year and receiving the club's emails, or as engrossing as going to all the membership meetings, attending all the events, working on one or more committees, and joining the board of directors. Each person has a different amount of available time that they want to apply, and we simply encourage all South County pilots at all points on this spectrum to join us.

Here's a little more about what we do. Each second Tuesday of the month we meet at the Wings of History Museum across the street from the airport. The evening starts with a social hour at 5:00 pm, dinner is served around 6:00 pm, and the general membership meeting and program starts promptly at 7:00 pm. At the meeting we discuss club business, future events, and usually have an interesting aviation speaker. We usually have a holiday party in the winter and an end of summer party, and put on other activities such as the club fly-out to Golden West airshow in Marysville. We have fund raising activities to fund the scholarships that we provide to local youth to help them on their way to careers in aviation. Many of our pilots have flown in the EAA-sponsored Young Eagle events at our airport where youth aged 8 to 17 are given their first flights in planes at no charge via volunteer EAA pilots. We also reach out to the county officials who operate and determine the future of our airport, monitor the various developments regarding the airport, and protect the membership's interests regarding airport improvement and preservation.
